Red, Nice to hear from you again. Yes, I'm obliged to say we did and still do have a case of the "green menace" down under. Not exactly sure when they first started to import them but I guess in the 20s or 30s. They never set up manufacturing facilities like IHC did (in 1949) but we had a local manufacturer called Chamberlain Industries who were building tractors with their own motors originally, and then fitting GMs for a while and finally Perkins motors. John Deere (there you are I've said it) took a 49% stake in Chamberlain in 1970 and put JD motors in them for a short while untill closing the plant in 1987.The tractors were called Camberlain John Deere but the shrinking market made it more economical to import after 1986. Still see a few older JDs around. You know Red, some have only got two cylinders. Even my old 15-30s got four. Redfan.
