Alot of water will enter through the exhaust stack. And work it's way down around the rings. You should be able to tell, the sleeve would be rusty or discolored. If you have a crack in your oil cooler, you would have oil in the water, not water in the oil. Oil is under much more pressure than water. But it has set for several years without enough antifreeze, so it could be cracked. I would think that it would crack the outside housing of the cooler before anything would crack inside of it, but it might have. I would take off the oil filters and apply pressure again and listen.
