Super C touch control....again

I am overhauling my touch control unit and have all the parts removed but one. The ball check valve in the bottom hole has a slotted top surface. By looking at the parts manual it looks like this piece is threaded and should be easy to remove but I can’t get it started. It is item #26 in the Super C parts manual. Has anyone gone in this far and if so how did you get that bugger out? Thanks, Mark
