Ya don't have a lot of choice. There'll be one of two ways to lash the hood down. If you have a J-hook showing at each corner of your hood you should poke your nose under the corners. If the tractor gods are smiling, you will see near each corner a bracket which may be part of something else projecting from some non-hood part of the tractor. Pull the J-hook down against the spring tension, and turn it to that the hook attached to J-hook engages the bracket. The other system involved a Deutz screw, which is some sort of fastener used in aircraft (with the required and, seriously, respectful nod to Guy Fay for that tidbit). As much of a smart a$$ as I've been about this up to now, I must confess that I've never seen one to look at up close, but it would seem to be a screw with some sort of spring rig that makes it easy to twist in and lock. If this doesn't solve it, two problems come to mind. You have a J-hook hood on a Deutz body, or vice-versa, or you have a J-hook body with either no J-hooks or J-hooks with no springs, any one of which suggests you'll need to get to a good parts counter fast to fix the rattle. I hate rattles, too. ;<) Best of luck lashin' 'er down proper! Scotty

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
