Bob M, On my M, the 12 Volt alternator has only one wire running from the BAT terminal on the alternator. The 2nd wire is a jumper wire that runs from #2 terminal to the BAT terminal on the alternator. I don't think this is exactly correct, but it does work, and it might be simpler than the other wires?? Here's another question, the alternator doesn't work until I rev my tractor up to full throttle. I can start the engine and run it to half throttle and the ammeter doesn't move, then when I get it to full throttle, the ammeter shows 30+ amps, then slowly goes back down as the battery charges. What would make my alternator need to be spun fast to start charging. I've tested it with a voltmeter to make sure my gauge wasn't faulty. Thanks for a reply in advance, but I'm baffled.
