Joe: Ledger plates are the plates the knives cut against. They are 1" wide and 2.5" long and are rivited to the fingers. You can tell if there worn by condition of serated edge. They should feel sharp as you slide fingers across them, be careful they may be sharp. There used to be specific tools for changing them don't imagion you can buy them anymore. If you have to hire a welding shop to change them you may be as far ahead to buy whole fingers. Take a finger off and go to dealer, compare cost of doing either way. It has been years since I've done one, don't know prices. Also the top plates or hold downs if worn to sharp edges should be replaced. Hugh.
