I had the same problem with my H, the trans are similar on the H & M , this seems to happen to H's more often, maybe they're harder to get going from a standstill in 5th than Ms. Anyway, the way that gear works is different from the others; it isn't two gears that mesh side-to-side, it's more like a coupling that extends from the end of one shaft to connect with another. While I guess it's possible that the shifter could be adjusted to shove the coupling farther, the most likely need is to replace the sliding gear. If you're as lucky as I was only the gear (about a hundred bucks) will need replacing and not the shaft it mates with(closer to two hundred). Meanwhile, shifting with the tractor moving will make it worse fast as will letting it pop out. A bungee cord from the shift to the seat support kept me going until I got around to it.
