OK I know this is the wrong time of the year(even for Wisconsin) to be worrying about tire chains but having the wrong oar in the water is a little step above not having my oars in the water. Went to a sale at a local camp and they had six 5 gallon buckets full of chain stuff with a $5 sign on them and yup it was $5 for the lot. Lots of people around so I didn't want to pull it all out to see what was there so I paid and exercised my hernia. I find that I have a set of tractor chains that measure about 128" lengthwise with 24" cross pieces. That looks close to fitting my 13.6x38s on the M but never having messed with chains I'm not sure. Does anybody happen to know the measurements of chains to fit those tires or can y'all tell me what I need to look for to know if it is a fit or not? One bucket seems to be parts of chains and I am wondering if I can add or take off pieces to make a fit. Lastly I was hoping that you could tell me if there is a downside/potential for damage to using these chains. Spending $5 to destroy $500 worth of tires or transmission is not out of the realm of possibility around my little cross between "Green Acres" and "Sanford and Son". Thanks in advance!!
