A Farmall B could be bought new with or without a battery and starter. Some very early ones didn't even have a place to mount the starter in the bell housing. There isn't much use for a starter without a battery unless you plan to jump it from a battery every time you want to start it. You can tell if it had a generator by looking at the pulley on the fan assembly, if it is a double pulley, it proably had a generator at one time. If the pulley is a single sheave, it didn't have a place to drive the generator. Who knows what someone might have changed over 50+ years.
