the cast bowl should not be touching the hood check and see if someone has welded it to the manifold usually with enough heat they can be screwed loose there should also be a pipe running from this bowl back and behind the tappet cover and then down to the valve assy see if you can unscrew the bowl and we will go from there I have any part you would need from one end to the other too bad some let the tractors outside and let these things rust up if you can get it off you could send it to me and i could rebuild it if you would care to the spring might be from a later type linkage that used a spring to help put proper tension on the flapper that reroutes the exhaust to the cycl there should be no restriction on the exhaust gases is the lever on the bowl parralell to the tappet cover if the lever is down about 45degress it is shut and that is not good as it is restricting the flow best is to remove it and replace it with a piece of common pipe till we get it working get it nice and cherry red put the heat on the flange of the manifold use a pipe wrench on the bowl carefully so as to not break the bowl a new pipe can be welded on the bowl if neccesary as the parts from I-H are not avail any more but there are some people like me who have used these things for years and have parts I have three of them running one on a B with two row cult another on an A WITH A one row cult and one on a B WITH A TWO WAY PLOW be glad to help as these are always stoppers at a show or any time someone sees them there is a lot of bad old wives tales but i can assure you they work if taken care of the original one was on a B that we cultivated from 48 till 62 did at least 140a of corn and beans and when i was in high school did a lot for neighbors was good money all we ever replaced was the rubber washer and gasket every year NOTHING else BUT the B NEVER sat outside thats what sheds are for when you get it running we will have to put a cultivator on I am going to use a BN with the set-up on the GREAT EASTERN IOWA TRACTOR ride in JUNE going 178 mi in 5 segments will use the cult for a nice way to fly the AMERICAN flag on the end of the cult frame and the I-H on the other side glad tohelp gene b
