I acquired my Farmall 130 in 1958 and my first Super A in 1975. I have never until today heard tell of priming the oil pump. Over the years I have owned an A, 2 Super As and 2 130s. I have never primed an oil pump. I have had manuels for these tractors, cant say that I have read them cover to cover, but have read lub charts. Are you guys sure this is not one of these imagionary rules. My tractors do pick up their oil preasure very quickly after an oil change. Never had an engine apart in one of these except for my 130, and it was a well deserved rebuild. I have also owned Farmalls 300, Super M, 504, 560D, 656D and 1066; Cockshutt 540, John Deere 540A forestry skidder, Massey 550 diesel combine and about 8 IH and Chevy trucks. Four of these tractors ( 300, 560, 656 and 1066 )clocked a total of 60,000 hours in my farming operation. The offset Farmalls are on average for quickness in picking up oil preasure.
