I started at IH dealer in Iowa in 1960, Iwas a city fellow, had no knowledge of farm tractors or equipment, went through the ranks, put machinery together and delivered it, worked on tractors in shop, drove the truck, worked in parts, anyway about this axle twist, most of them simply broke off, H/300/460std all had same axle, 2-1/2" od. We always carried parts stock of rear axles for these tractors, also axle housings, main reason was mounted corn pickers, someone would always break axle on one the most miserable days in the fall during harvest. We had to change it in field in the mud or ditch where tractor was, wasnt no other choice.
