The serial # should be hand stamped on a flat spot on the block (not the head) below & in front of the #1 spark plug. Kinda hard to find-use putty knife to get the grease off-sometimes the #'s are filled w/paint & sometimes they're not there if a different block was installed. Mechanics were supposed to stamp the same # on new IH blocks when they were installed, but I never knew one that did. If you find it, go to the serial #'s section @ left & let us know the age of your baby. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
