No provision for a thermostat on an A. I think the connection for the temp gage is on the lower radiator elbow, the coolest place in the system. Unless you are really working the tractor, it will never get warm at that location. On the A, the temp gage was really just to tell you when you needed to open the radiator shutters. With the thermosyphon system on the A, the bottom will be cool and the top will get warm or hot. If your top radiator connection is warm or hot and the bottom is cool, it's working like it should.
