Jim, There are two alignment dowels between the top cover and the case. I had the same problem removing mine. I just lightly tapped the bottom of the top cover evenly all the way around with a rubber mallet. After it started to separate a little bit I was able to use a pry bar. If you need to remove the bull pinion shaft cage you will have to take the final drive farther apart. You will need to remove the axle shaft & housing and the large bull gear to remove the bull cage. If you are needing to replace the oil seals or outer bearings. Then you can do so by just removing the brake assemblies and the bull pinion retainer plate. I took some pictures of my Super C when I replaced the oil seals. If you would like to see need them just email me. Good Luck, Chuck
