Last Sunday while leveling off the neighbors yard(new house) with my 51 H the voltage regulator decided it had enough. Eventually the tractor died, and of course the battery was dead! Charged it enough to get back home and run the tests to confirm that the regulator was to blame. Then the fun began. Called the place I bought the last reg. at just over 2yrs. ago ($34) and they said $72!!!!. I about S--t. Checked Napa in Piqua, OH $52, checked Napa Sidney(10 miles North) $64. The brain surgeon at Advanced Auto Parts in Piqua told me that tractors didn't have voltage regulators(It was hard not to laugh in his face). Finally found one at a independant starter and alternator shop in Sidney for just under $36. I was amazed at the HUGE price differences, and was wondering what you guys have,or,are paying for voltage regulators?? And what kind of shop,or,store you got it at??
