I agree with the others.. Get Guy Fay's book "Farmall Letter Series Tractors" If not for valuable information, get it for the great pictures it has. It will also tell you which years will require different style name decals and the proper decal placements. We're restoring my dad's '46 W-9 right now and the wheels are silver. Sandblasting will be fine as long as the tin isn't rusted itself too thin over the years. If it has, maybe try a wire wheel?? Everyone says to use PPG Urethane paint when the time comes as they say it won't fade.. (we're not that far on ours yet so I don't have personal experience on that).. We have the engine ready for the machine shop (line boring, oven bake, turn the crank, port/polish the head) and after searching for over 2 years, found a NOS M&W high comp. step head piston & sleeves kit for it which will go in her as well. When done it should have some snort and be pretty mean. Not only that, but will look nice when parked next to the W-4 and Super W-6 on the farm. Best of luck on your restoration! I'm glad to see another W-9 saved and put back to work.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
