Knocking in 2nd gear

I have a 1941 Farmall "H" and am doing some work on the transmission. It had the problem when i bought the tractor wich was about seven months ago. We have the top drive shaft of the transmission off that goes the the differental. We have to buy a new fourth- fifth gear and main drive gear that drives the trans, the belt pully and the 5th gear. We have now went through the second pilot bearing and wondering if we have the right one. On 2nd gear, the oddest thing is that it only makes a knocking noise ( like a crank) when it is free wheeling. thanks!
