dm, When you say back side I have to wonder exactly where you are talking about. There is a 1/2" NPT threaded hole on the right side about in between and below #'s 3 & 4 cyl. this is for the water temp gauge sensor to screw in. There is another hole way in the rear end of the head that should have a tubing type fitting with tubing running up and into the stack of the air cleaner. This was a type of emission control vent for the head.//FB
