I am not sure about H but on M there were 2 types of the flat type PTOs. Serial no 501-27996 were flat type slot drive. Serial 27997-59956 were flat type spline drive. 59957 0n were the late type. On the slot drive the transmission counter shaft had to be changed to install spline drive PTOs. My late 1940 M has the slot drive. Hope this is of some help.
