If you use a Woods belt, it will be the right size, and strong enough to stand the necessary extreme tension. They are made especially for mower use. Don't even think about trying to use a cheaper belt...they won't last any time at all. If it doesn't have the weird twist, it isn't a Woods. My problem was didn't have it tight enough. It flopped over and ran sideways...ruining it. George Willer
