Hi Mark I am a ex CaseIH fitter of 22 years and it sound like it could be 1 or 2 problems the first is easy to fix it could be that the 3 mounting bolts are just overtight or it is also possible that the detent unit is just rusty i think that the first one is more than likley it was quite a common fault especially if the o-rings had been changed because of a leak have a go and slacken the bolts and gently retighten just over hand tight with a spanner 15 -20 lb ft let me know how you get on and e-mail me back here in England
