They are correct. I have a 2M pixel Nikon that is a couple of years old now and love it. However, when I take a picture that needs to end up on the internet, I have to reduce the resolution with some photo software, or purposely take the picture at reduced resolution. Otherwise, the pics are too large for most folks liking and take too long to download.

For regular pictures, a 1M pixel will take a 5x7 that you can't distinguish from a normal print. 2M pixel and an 8x10 works the same way. Bigger than that and you can crop your pictures and still do 8x10s of the portion that's left. Bigger is better, but more expensive. I find that since it is so easy to get pics onto the computer now, I use the computer to view pictures far more than I print them.

Make sure your camera uses removable compact Flash cards to store the pictures. Most of them do. They are the cat's meow for getting pics out of the camera and onto the computer quickly and without using up batteries. Just pop out the Flash card and plug it into a USB Flash card reader (about $20 or so) that is plugged into your computer.
