I would reccomend getting an I&T Shop Manual for your tractor. I will describe how to adjust the clutch, but the fact that it just all of a sudden stopped would sort of lead me to believe that you have something more serious wrong and will need to split the tractor. But first, of course, try adjusting it:

-remove the spring between the clutch throwout shaft and t.a. throwout shaft

-there is a small rod that runs between the clutch throwout shaft and the TA throwout shaft (the clutch one is the front shaft). Loosen the lock nut on this, and remove the pin from the back (TA end) of it.

-On the rod that runs from the clutch pedal to the clutch throwout shaft, loosen the lock nut, and take the pin out of it on the pedal end. Turn the clevis to obtain 1.25 inches free travel (measured from the rear frame cover to the clutch pedal). Tighten locknut. If there is a small bolt with setscrew on the bottom of the clutch pedal, adjust this to get 4 inches of full pedal travel. Replace pin in rod.

-Place TA handle in forward (high) position
-On the rod that runs from the TA handle to the TA throwout shaft, loosen the locknut and remove pin from clevis at throwout shaft end of rod.
-push and hold the TA throwout shaft as far counter-clockwise as possible without forcing, and hold there for the next step.
-Adjust the clevis (mentioned two steps ago) to provide 3/16 inch between the inserted pin and the forward end of the elongated hole in the clevis. Tighten locknut for this clevis. Install pin.

-Re-install spring removed in step one

-On the rod that goes between clutch throwout shaft and TA throwout shaft, adjust it so that it is as short as possible without changing the position of throwout shafts when the pin is inserted into the clevis on it. Tighten locknut and insert pin.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Today's Featured Article - Memories of an IH Super A When I was ? up to 10, I worked on my Papaw's farm in Greeneville, TN every summer. As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub. My Papaw raised "baccer" (tobacco) and corn with the Super A, but the fondest memory was of the sawmill. He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to ... [Read Article]
