You may have nothing wrong too. After checking your timing/fuel mixture, and checking your wires, and it still pops, pops idle and pops every so often you may have a common non-ailment with points flutter. It doesn't hurt a thing or cause any loss of power or nothing like that. Some play in the shaft and rotor just may cause a slight popping and flutter as points open and close. It happens its normal and nothing to lose sleep over. It gives your tractor the sound of an old machine doing what it is supposed to be doing with just a little more character.
