The D-239 and D-206 are very similar engines. The only real difference is the length of the stroke. They are the four cylinder versions of the D-358 and D-310 German Diesels. I have experience with the D-358 and D-310 in a 786 and a 686. Both have nearly 7000 hrs. and still run like new. The German Diesels are well known for long life and fuel efficency. As far as which one to go with, I'd go for the 544, but I don't really have any experience with any of the others. If you want any of these to start easier, you could probably put in pistons from a very late D-358 when it comes time for an overhaul.
