Problems depend on previous owner(s) in my opinion. Have seen 1066/1086 tractors run 10000 hours before anything is touched and others in the shop everytime you turn around. We have had several high hp IH tractor including at the present a 1086, it has well over 5000 hours and has never been in the shop nor does it have any problems. 1066 tractors were also good if cared for but did have smaller axles than the 1086 and some had breakage problems. As far as value that also depends on the tractor's past and it's present condition. Have seen 1086's around $10000, maybe a little less or maybe more, depends on the tractor. 1066 with no cab, around here $6500 to $7500 and believe it or not a 766 would bring about the same money, maybe just a little less but I DID see a slick 756 Diesel bring $10000 on a dealer's lot. It looked like new.
