I have done it a couple of times. Split the tractor and make sure it is stable, heat the old gear and it will pry right off. The new one will go right back on easy, just heat it a little, start it evenly and drive on with wooden mallet or hammer blows cushioned by a wooden block, not expensive, seems like the gear was $18 at CIH and the biggest chore is splitting the tractor. Take your time and take notes if necessary or photos are great before you start so you see how all goes back together. Good luck.
