I work an H and M's regularly. Make sure you don't have one of the short mufflers. It should be nearly 3 ft or so overall length. I have seen some which are only 1-1/2 ft long. I keep my rain caps so the hinge is to the back and 45 degrees or more to the right side. When running wide open the exhaust is directed to the front and left. If I stand up with the wind in my face I sometimes get a some exhaust but don't notice it when sitting down. If the flapper is facing backwards it will kill you. I've seen guys put them on that way so they stay closed with the tractor on a trailer and don't understand how they can work a tractor that way. Mine never get shown, just worked, so they don't get much trailer time. But I do road them to fields 15 miles away.
