Bull/pinion Again on H

Had some great advice from Ace on getting out the axle without removing the axle castings,worked great and thanks alot.Now I have the bull gears off the shaft but they dont have the clearence to be taken out.Do you have to take out the pto unit and pto shaft to make room to remove the bull gears out of the tranny?If so after taken the 4 bolts out of pto will the pto shaft just slide out of tranny?Thanks for all the priceless experence.Some things you just cant get out of a manual.
