Congratulations! So the mag was out of time all along and you replaced the wires they way they should have been instead of the way it was when it was running. That is a real tough problem, and one reason you might want to re-time the mag, so it won't happen again. If you pull the mag put a scribe line across both halves so you will get it retimed precisely after you turn the impulse coupling. Remember it will fire even turning it slowly by hand and you could inadvertantly kiss that blue spark after all.
