Hello,
I have a delco alternator on my H in the same spot as the old generator. The hood won't really close and I am thinking about moving it down by the governor. There seems to be a clear path for the belt there. The only drawback is the alternator will stick out fairly far. I thought about tryin one of those new small alternators that generally go on a GM car. They want twice as much for one of them as the old delco self exciters.
