Hi John, My '56 100 has about 1/3 of a steering wheel's turn of play in it. Haven't had the steering box open on my 100 yet, but I understand that there is a gear in the box that is turned by the worm on the end of the steering shaft; that gear gets worn over time, causing loose steering, and may need replaced. If you don't already have them, you can get reprints of the chassis and engine service manuals from Case IH. If you don't have the owner's manual and the parts book, you can get them as well(the parts book, with its exploded parts diagrams, is a HUGE help!). The Case IH reprints are top-notch and reasonably priced(I have a full set). Call Ken Updike at 608-455-2411 to order them.
