If an engine has been idle for a long time the rings can get so dry that it doesn't have enough vacuum to suck gas up. Mix a little gas and oil and squirt some in each plug hole. Spin her over fast with the plugs out to "limber up" the rings. Then replace the plugs and use lots of choke. It worked for me.
