I had a 1958 460 utility with an oily engine. My dad bought it new. Mostly the problem it had was hardened cork gaskets on the valve covers on the top and side of the engine. Heat gets to them after a while. By the time I sold it it had a lot of blow-by from worn rings and valve stem seals which may have contributed to the oil problem. If you keep the engine vent tube open, there wouldn't be internal pressure in the engine to make the leaks worse, so you might have slow seeping leaks from the gasket areas. It would have to be a really nice later model 460 to be worth 5 grand to me. Good luck.
