Listen to these guys on the respirator details. You want a respirator for Organic vapors. The cartridges will probably be black in color. A fabric prefilter will save it from getting clogged if there is lots of mists. Since you'll only be painting once or twice with it, throw the cartridges away when done. They won't keep for long, the carbon uses it itself up passively. Then next time you paint (assuming it is a month or longer) buy some more. To extend the life on cartridges store the respirator in a ziploc bag. Make sure the respirator isn't simply a paper filter or something along the lines of a N100 rating, these are for particulates or dusts only. If you paint in the shed or even outside, you might wet the ground to knock dust down, then put your plastic sheeting on ground. A friend painted my car for me in a professional spray booth and I still had a fly land on the roof. I'm lucky in the paint department, my company has a booth and fulltime painter who works for pizza and beer. He uses a air supplied respirator system.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
