Scott, I'm assuming you don't have power steering? Try jacking up the front so the wheels are off the ground, then steering, you should be able to tell then if you have some binding or if something is seized up. If not, then I would say your front end is out of alignment. The service manual describes in excruciating detail how to align it, and if you have improper toe-in, it will steer harder than it should. Tire type makes a difference too.
