It could be that tolerances are way off in the gearbox or something. I would start by greasing everything up good and adding oil to the gearbox. Our gearbox was falling apart (literally) before I rebuilt it, and it wouldn't hold any oil due to the 1/4 inch gap between the sides of the box. It works lots better now. I guess I would recommend rebuilding it. While I had it off (you have to strip pretty much everything off the tractor - seat, gas tank, etc) I went ahead and splurged and re-did the TA too, since I already had it down that far. Weight, like a loader, on the front end, also makes it a lot harder to use.
