I am in the process of converting my SMTA to a 12 volt Alt system using Bob Melville's 10/98 diagram. I ran all new wire and have triple checked my wiring and still show Zero volts coming out of the 10SI Alt when I put my volt meter on it. I took the alt in and had it checked (it is brand new) and it was fine. I had it check by autozone a second time and it was fine again. I just replaced my amp gauge and still no charge. The 1815 test light does come on when I pull the ignition switch but never goes off. Any ideas? Does anything have to be grounded? I ran wire from the number 1 terminal on the alt to my test light then to the ignition (switched side). I then ran wire from the number 2 terminal to the batt term on the alt. I then ran a wire from the batt terminal on the alt to the + side of the amp gauge. The neg side of the amp gauge goes to the starter. I also ran a wire from the + side of the amp gauge to the ignition and then a wire from the switched side of the ignition to the ballist. Please help!
