My SMTA had 13.6X38 inch tires (says on 12"rims below numbers) Rims measure 12 inches to outside of outter ribs. I put 14.9 X38 tires on it, they say "14.9 /13 X38" I think that 13 X38 was the old designation for the current 14.9. My old JD G has 13 X36 tires on it and was told that was the same as 14.9. Not sure exactley how rim width is measured. Don't know if this helps.
