Getting oil pan off IH 460 Utility

Thought I could replace leaking oil pan gasket easy on my Ih460 Utility w/wide front. It looked like I had enough room to drop the pan but it will not clear enough it get pass the rod bearings. It hits the u shaped supports for the wide front. It looks like I need to drop the center pivot for the front axel. There are 4 bolts that look like all that is holding it. Can someone tell me what I have to do to get this pan off. If I have to drop the axel what do I need to watch out for, Because I would hate to release something I can't get back on. I feel stupid asking this but would really look dumb if I take the front axel off and didn't have to. Thanks for any help.
