I vote with the others. Your belt is probably not set up correctly and is not tight enought. The belts on the Woods belly mowers need to be TIGHT! I used a Woods L59 on a Super A and then on a 140 for 18 years mowing about 4 acres at least once a week during mowing season. The belt would typically last 4 or 5 years. The belt has to be lined up properly and as I said before TIGHT. I used to use a hydraulic jack to press the idler pulleys down to tighten the belt. If you are just pushing down on them or even using a pry bar to hold them yourself to tighten the belt, you are not getting the belt tight enough. If you use a pry bar, you need a helper to hold it while you tighten the bolts. The Woods is a good mower and will do a better job than the rear mower and you should be able to get good belt life.
