Dan, OEM tractor parts makes a gas line exactly like the original out of steel for about $20 (includs brass fittings). This is a pretty good deal considering the time and effort it will take you to get all of the bends and angles right. If you do decide to make your own, use steel. Do NOT use copper. Vibrations will make copper brittle and crack, usually spilling gas over a hot engine, which as someone explained it to me, results in a syndrome known as "Holy Cow My Tractor is On Fire"! I know this first hand the hard way.
