The .25 hp per acre is pretty close -- never thought about it that way before. In western Kansas the average farm size (varies all over the map) is about 1800 Acres. 1800 acres x 0.25 hp = 450 hp. The 450 hp can be had with one 200 hp tractor and a couple of smaller ones. The minimum number of tractors is usually about two. Most farmers will have one large tractor and one or more older smaller ones. So in your terms, we are already competitive, too bad the farmers aren't making any money. Yes they do need exercise. I have four and have trouble keeping them in operating condition.
