Gordon: TA is short for Torque Amplifier. The TA is a two speed gear box ahead of the standard transmission. It is shift on the go no clutching, reduces your speed aprox 33%. It basically turns a 5 speed Farmall into a 10 speed. Most other companies came in with their own version later. IH was first with TA in 1954.
