My SC did the same thing....and my old neighbor, a life long farmer told me one day (this was sitting in the field hooked to a hay rake.....I KNOW DAM* GOOD and WeLL its in the carb.....) I'd had it off too many times to count, took apart...blew thur the passages....pulled the sediment bowl off, etc. etc....One day...I hooked a timing light up to #1 plug and just held the button, and watched it flash....pretty soon I noticed an erratic light pattern......changed the condensor and its ran like a top ever since......I may have new points in it to...can't remember.....it was sure a surprise to me, becasue I really thought it was a fuel problem to....however...if your SC is anything like mine....the cap doesn't fit nearly tight enough to stop the flow of fuel....pull the plug out of the bottom of the carb...that will tell you if its that...
