Finding TDC of the compression stroke is easy. Here is two ways: If you have the valve cover off, watch the valves on the first cylinder (closest to the Radiator) until they are both closed, and advanve the crank until the pointer lines up with the TDC notch on the crankshaft pulley. Another way is to remove the spark plug on #1 Cyl, and have someone hold their thumb over the hole while you crank the engine. Once they feel outward pressure, you are on the compression stroke, and you just need to crank the engine until the pointer lines up with the TDC notch on the crankshaft pulley. Make sure you read the section on positioning the mag before you mount it.
