SM-TA drawbar problem

I recently purchased a swinging drawbar (aftermarket), and when I went to install it the holes for the strap were about a 1 1/2" off. Also the angles bent in it make it come out about 3" lower than the U drawbar, making it on an uneven plain when bolted up. I hate to cob things on and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Is there something I'm not doing right? or should I just send it back? Thankyou for response!
