I know what you mean, I've got a "M" with the same problem. Past advise has been to take tank to local radiator shop & have them boil it out & seal it. Unfortunately, I've found nobody in my area willing to do so. What I did was to let the tank drain out for three months (while overhaul was taking place) and then 'shake' all the junk loose & vacuum out w/ shop vac. This won't work very well unless it is completely dry. I then installed two in-line filters to filter out the junk - one cheap purolater job & one more expensive Summit Racing in-line that filters to 5 microns. No problems at all since. Summit part no. is SUM-G1512 and is polished stainless steel for $17.69. Good investment, short of sending your tank to Wisconsin (or wherever it is that restores tanks) - After awhile, hopefully all the silt will be gone entirely!
