Geoffry, If the disc you are referring to is the ceramic button type it will be very agressive and like you were told they do wear more on the flywheel and pressure plate . The advantage that they have over a woven disc is that they will handle allot of slipping and heat.If you do put put the ceramic in it is crittical that the flywheel be resurfaced inorder to get a smooth operating clutch. I hope this helps.
